When I became a mom, I found myself clinging to my phone.
It became an escape from the mundane or hard parts of life.
Looking at the “outside world” and all the beautiful and entertaining things it had to offer quickly made me resent my new role.
Is this you?
Are you constantly comparing your life to perfectly posed shots on Instagram?
Do you end a long day, not by talking to your husband or filling yourself with the word of God, but vegging out on the endless scroll of Facebook videos?
When your phone alarm goes off in the morning, does it lead to checking your email, then Pinterest, then . . . until the kids wake up?
Instead of participating in another challenge that adds a million things to your already busy life, try putting away the phone, looking to Jesus, and learning how to be intentional with your time.
I knew that I needed a reset to help break these habits. On January 1st, I also participated in the digital detox challenge. Each week, with the Holy Spirit’s help, I did two simple things to reduce the amount of time I spent on my phone.
Post-challenge, I have found my mornings to be more productive, I am spending more distraction-free quality time with my son, and I have started to read more again (both the Bible and other books)
You can participate in the Digital Detox Challenge at any time, not just as a New Year’s Resolution! If you want to participate, just subscribe below to Rapt Motherhood. In your welcome email, I will send you a link where you can download a printable of the plan. I have also included my prayer for the challenge and Bible verses for you to meditate on.
You can do this mama. You can make these simple changes and find a happier and more satisfying life as a mom grounded in Christ.
